Explosive music theatre by youngsters
The evening start off with Change Your World. This is the largest performance you are about to see. 'Large' meaning both the length (45 minutes) and the scale. VocaalLAB has produced exciting work for the Yo! Opera festival for the fourth time now. They work together with youngsters from the Oosterlicht College from the city of Nieuwegein. This performance is inspired by images of teenagers camping on the Puerta del Sol square in Madrid, massive violence in the Middle East or youngsters chatting with soldiers on Tahrir Square. Nowadays young people know how to work on their ideas and views through social media. We were all witnesses of the effects this has had in a series of countries that were dictatorially and brutally led by non democratic governments.
This performance is about everything that touches on the lives and souls of youngsters en is inspired by global themes, self made lyrics and songs and events from todays news. A mix of passionate singing, smashing rhythms and unexpected sound eruptions results from this.
