Creative Coorperation

During the five year long collaboration with Yo! Opera, the pupils of the Globe College learned about opera, singing as art form and singing as a way to express yourself. The cooperation included many projects. In 2006 the decor for the project Water was made by pupils and in 2007 the Globe (then Delta) College was part of the Yo! Opera Festival as the host of the show Wild Dreams of Glyndebourne Youth Opera (England). In the spring of 2008 Globe College and Yo! Opera presented the exhibition Mijn Toekomst (My future), with video portraits of the fourth year students and a soundscape of the freshman, when also appeared in the City Hall of Utrecht. In 2009 the students made the performance Wegwijzers (Signposts). The rehearsals were followed by documentary filmmaker Carine Bijlsma, whereupon her documentary Toonladders en Tweedeklassers scales and premiered during the 2009 Dutch Film Festival and was screened on television in Het Uur van de Wolf. In 2010, Yo! Opera sterted with a new classroom on the project Ik als jonge held (I am a hero) . Lessons and singing workshops resulted in the documentary Als ik.... (If I ….). The exhibition Is dit Opera? (Is this Opera?) -decorated by the pupils – in the City Hall of Utrecht in November 2011 gave an overview of all these activities and marked the end point of this remarkable creative cooperation.
